Polymer technic extruction
The polymer, in the form of granules is fed through the hopper to the barrel. It then passes through the feed, compression and metering sections.
The reason why the channel or the feed pockets are big is to compact the solid polymer as it goes along the compression stage. The Metering section, however, has a constant volume or depth for the "pockets" or channels to control the output of the plastic by pressurising it.
Once the liquidised polymer reaches the end of the barrel it is pushed through a nozzle to a mould or a die to form the desired shape. The final stage of this process is the cooling of the polymer.
